Step 1: pick your location with care

When it comes to budgeting for a wedding, you need to know that the cost of a venue in France varies widely depending on the location.

Are you planning to have the wedding of your dream in Provence or in the South of France?

The French Riviera is one of the most iconic places where to tie the knot, which also makes it one of the most expensive location in France.

The cost of hiring a beautiful wedding venue such as a château or a domain in the South of France could range from 3 000 euros up to 50 000 euros for the most famous and luxurious venues.

If you are looking for something slightly more affordable, why not look for a secluded château in the area around Bordeaux or in la Dordogne? This wonderful area is the perfect place for a intimate destination wedding and attracts many British and American couples every year.

The Loire Valley is another popular area located near Paris where to get married in France.

Keep in mind that many castles in the Loire Valley are listed buildings. Therefore, these impressive properties fall in the higher end of the market.

Other regions in France have a lot to offer at an affordable price. Château du Bois Rigaud in the Chaîne des Puys Valley is a beautiful rustic barn in the center of France.

Our château has been recently renovated to a high standard of contemporary luxury. We can hold weddings for up to 130 guests, and can lodge up to 40 guests on the grounds. Our master suite and generously sized bedrooms in the château provide luxurious accommodation for 20 guests. The optional Dorm can sleep 20 more guests.

Our all inclusive wedding package for a week stay at our private chateau starts at £25 000 and varies depending on the number of guests.

Step 2: Decide what type of property matches your dream wedding

Have you not find the perfect property for your special day yet? If not, take time to think about what’s the best type of property for your wedding.

Do you rather see yourself celebrating with your nearest and dearest in a wonderful castle next to a vineyard or would you prefer an outdoor ceremony with a sea view?

The budget required to hire a chateau is generally higher than for a rustic barn.

Prices for a weekend stay in a small manor house start around 3 000 €. If you are considering privatizing a premium chateau just for you and your guests, you should expect to pay a price of at least 5 000 €.

Step 3: pick the right wedding package for your big day

Finding the perfect castle or villa for your wedding in France would largely depend on your individual needs.

If you speak fluent French and have enough time to look for your own local suppliers, many châteaux will be perfectly happy to offer their venue on a hire-only basis. Alternatively, some venues can assist with the entire preparation for celebrating your big day.

At Château de Bois Rigaud, our team can be involved as much or as little as you would like. We can offer a basic rental of the château grounds or our team can assist in all aspects of your wedding, including selection of catering providers, local florists, hair dressers and ceremony officiants.

Our fully inclusive wedding package starts at £25 000. This includes wedding planning services, catering, hair and make up, flower decorations, all tailored to you needs.

Step 4: Plan your wedding 2 years ahead

With the future of large gatherings uncertain due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2021, it’s a wise choice to plan your wedding day a few years ahead.

If you have just started searching for a wedding venue for your big day, we recommend that you book your wedding for the season 2023 or 2024. By then, it’s likely travel restrictions would have eased and destination weddings would be able to take place yet again.

This will also give you plenty of time to pick the right venue and compare what’s right for you.
